Free Introductory Workshops . . .

 

For Kennel/Cat/Pony Clubs - Animal Welfare Groups - Community Groups

Promoting Animal Wellness, and Performance through Natural Therapies

This is a  practical 60 – 90 min workshops and serves as an introduction to the use of natural therapies in enhancing wellness and performance ( in the case of show and performance animals).

Topics covered include:

 

·     An introduction to the following natural therapies as part of remedial and preventative programs  with pet , show  and/or with rescue animals  – nutrition – bowen therapy – kinesiology -  reiki – flower and crystal  essences  - homeopathy – crystal energy

 

·     Prevention & management of acute and chronic injuries using natural therapies 

 

The workshop is practical with hands on “mini” demonstrations of the modalities used by Animal Equilibrium with member’s animals. There are also opportunities for “questions from the group ” on specific problems or concerns they have with their animals.

Workshop Topics  

    

Natural therapy approaches and techniques for the performance canine  (one day program)

Yoga 4 Dogs – (series of 4  x 2hr classes)  to develop flexibility, strength and focus with your dog through fun bodywork activities PLUS Learn stretching and simple bodywork techniques for warm ups and cool downs. Classes involve you and your dog and are structured so that you can take these skills and use in your own home – classes are scheduled a week apart to give you and your pooch time to practice!

 

Acupressure and meridian massage – techniques to use for your dog/cat/horse  

to promote general wellness ( separate program for canines, felines and equines)

 

Flower Essences - what they are, how to use for yourself and your animal  

(one day  program)

 

Introduction to Homeopathy and Homeopathic First Aid  ( half day program)

 

K9 Kinesiology ( one day program )

 

Equine Kinesiology ( 1-2 day program)

 

K9 Nutrition -  (one day program)

 

Animal Reiki Level 1 ( 1-2 day program)

 

Animal Reiki Level 2 ( 1- 2 day program)

General Workshop Information . . .  .

Workshop Design : All workshops are very practical and hands on, hence numbers are limited – you will learn  new ideas and techniques and  put these into practice with your own animal. As part of group learning there are also opportunities for individual tuition, feedback and support from Helen throughout the workshop.  

Workshop Numbers : Workshops will be geared for small groups of no more than 8 participants and will allow for participants animals to be in attendance as long as animals are well socialised and do not exhibit aggression towards people or other animals. This will be discussed with participants upon registration

Venue : Workshops will be held at Bringelly ( details provided at time of registration)

Dates and Times : Workshop dates and topics are scheduled quarterly . Contact Helen for details.   Generally workshops will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm ( one day programs ) and from  9.30 to 12.30/ 1.30-4.30pm    ( half day am or pm programs).

Cost : Full day programs are $80 -$100 which includes participant’s manual, morning and afternoon teas and refreshments during the day and with some workshops remedies etc. Participants bring their own lunch. Half day programs are $60.

This option is available for groups of 8 or more, at a time and place that is mutual to you, your club    members or like minded friends.   Reduced participant fees apply in the case of clubs providing venue and refreshments or the option of  free registration for host and one friend  in the case of self initiated group.

Bowen Therapy is a fantastic bodywork modality that horses, cats, dogs and other small animals respond to very well. It is a holistic therapy with both physical and emotional benefits. Helen is the NSW Instructor for SmartBowen Therapy International Training College which is a registered training organisation (RTO).  

Both Small Animal and Equine home user and professional training is being regularly conducted in NSW – please contact Helen or SmartBowen for scheduled dates and fees. Whilst most training is run in Sydney , rural equine training courses will be run where sufficient students.

Certificate IV in Small Animal Smart Bowen Therapy

This Nationally Accredited training program is available to persons choosing to undertake training to become a Professional Small Animal Bowen Therapist.

Pre-requisites - apart from the desire to learn Bowen to a professional standard, applicants should be confident around dogs and cats in particular and behave in a kind and respectful manner towards them.

Students attend a total of 4 intensive training seminars, of  2 or 3  days duration over a period of 6-8 months. In addition to attending the training intensives, students are required to complete a series of Case Studies and Log Book (for treatments), Open and Closed Workbook Assessments (theory) & Practical Assessments between each of the training intensives, enabling the student to be continually assessed on their practical and theoretical knowledge. 

Certificate IV in Small Animal Bowen Therapy consists of Modules 1 to 5 which includes all assessments + in addition the student may be required to complete Anatomy and Physiology and Common Competencies –if no prior study or previous experience in these areas

 

Practitioner Program - Certificate IV in Small Animal Smart Bowen Therapy

This program is open to persons holding a qualification in the following areas:  

  • ALL interpretations of Bowen Therapy who have attained a Nationally Recognized Certificate IV, Diploma or Advance Diploma, in People or Equine.

  • Human and or animal health modalities who have attained a Nationally Recognized Certificate IV, Diploma or Advance Diploma or Bachelor of Health Science, brief examples are: Veterinarian, Veterinary Nurse,

  • Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Chiropractry, Myotherapist, Nursing, Massage,             Herbal Medicine

  • The student must have obtained adequate Anatomy and Physiology in the recognized training they undertook - this area may be subject to entry requirements.

  • The student must hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate of acquire one by completion of the program.

 The Practitioner program is delivered in 3 training intensives, instead of 5 .

Other animals that may be treated by the Professional Small Animal Bowen Therapist are those that fall within a ‘small animal’ category, namely Rabbits, Rats, Guinea Pigs, Birds, Reptiles, Sheep, Goats, Pigs and Fauna.   Please note that to treat outside of what is indicated as a Professional may void insurance coverage.

Diploma of Equine Smart Bowen Therapy

This Nationally Recognized training program is available to persons choosing to undertake training to become a Professional Equine Bowen Therapist.

Pre-requisites - apart from the desire to learn Bowen to a professional standard, applicants must have some prior horse ground handling skills and be capable and competent around horses in a safe and respectful manner. 

Students attend a total of 4 'Hands On intensive' seminars, of  4/5 and 2  days duration.  In addition to the training intensives, the student has other outlined units of study to complete as mentioned below.


Training Intensives Delivering Bowen Technique and Related Subjects

Equine Essentials - Module One  /  4 days 'Hands On' intensive Home User & Diploma
Module Two / 4 days 'Hands On' intensive Diploma
Module Three and Four -delivered together / 4 days 'Hands On' intensive Diploma **
Final Assessment / 2 or 3 days (dependent on participants) 'Hands On' intensive Diploma **

**PLEASE NOTE - 

Training intensives - Modules 3 & 4 will only be available in Melbourne –Victoria.

The entire Diploma program is designed to be delivered over a 12 to 18  month time frame.

In addition to attending the training intensives, students are required to complete a series of Case Studies and Log Book (for treatments), Open and Closed Workbook Assessments (theory) & Practical Assessments between each of the training intensives, enabling the student to be continually assessed on their practical and theoretical knowledge. 

The student is also required to complete (or have qualifications already) in an appropriate human or equine anatomy and physiology course.  Completion of Senior First Aid and some Common Competency units (some of these are available through Smart Bowen Pty Ltd).

Qualified persons may obtain membership with the Bowen Therapist Federation of Australia Inc., The  Smart Bowen Therapy International Association Inc., and carry professional Public & Products Liability & Indemnity Insurance.
