What
is it ?
Reiki is a Japanese
technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes
healing. It is a complete energetic healing system healing at all levels
of an animals being: physical, mental and emotional.
When
using Reiki to heal, the practitioner channels healing energy through
the hands to the animal either directly or from a distance via the
charka centres, auras, nadis or meridian channels
Where
did it come from?
Reiki was developed by Dr Usui Milao, from
Japan
in the early 1900s. It was brought to the “western” world in the
1960’s. Reiki has expanded
in its application since then with training available worldwide. A
person becomes a Reiki practitioner after a number of “energy
attunements” and learning to work with the body to harmonise energy
patterns.
Studies into Reiki have confirmed the existence of energy
exchanges happening between the healer and the receiver. There have been
numerous research studies on the effects of energetic healing on
biological and cellular function. Studies by Dr Justa Smith have
demonstrated changes in enzyme activity and cellular repair that have
fasten recuperation from surgery and injury.
Two well known hands on animal energy healers are Margrit Coates
(UK) and Kathleen Prasad (USA). They have developed techniques and
methods for working with animals and have documented success with a
range of emotional and physical problems.
Treatment
and how might my animal benefit ?

Through hands on healing, animals respond intuitively to Reiki's
power to heal emotional, behavioural, and physical illnesses and
injuries. Healing does not have to be done directly on the animal’s
body, it can be done within the animals aura.
Some animals prefer to
receive energetic healing at some distance which allows the animal to
move around and feel less constrained.
A
Reiki treatment can be for 15 minutes or up to an hour.
Animals generally become extremely relaxed and may even fall
asleep during Reiki.
Reiki
is safe and non invasive – the energy
goes to those issues most in need of healing
Reiki
can be useful in a range of situations including -
-
Emotional
trauma / abuse / neglect
-
Fear
and trust issues
-
Stress
or behavioural problems - high strung or nervous animals
-
Recuperation
from surgery or injury
-
Palliative
care situations
-
Immune
problems or animals with low energy

A
very important factor in keeping all of us optimally healthy is diet.
The same applies for your companion animal.
Helen studied at the National College of Traditional Medicine (Melb) in
small animal nutrition. Nutrition
has an important part to play in preventative healthcare and in recovery
processes following injury or illness. As part of any consultation with Animal
Equilibrium a discussion and examination of diet will be undertaken to look at
ways of improving your animals overall health and wellbeing.
Photonic
Therapy - Acupuncture without
needles

McLaren
Photonic Therapy is an effective, safe, scientifically advanced
form of acupuncture, using Red Light, not laser, to gently stimulate the
body’s own capacity to reduce pain, increase the immune response and
promote healing. The technique was developed by Dr Brian McLaren,
a well respected Australian
Veterinary Acupuncturist
An acupuncture point is an area of the skin which has increased
electrical conductivity. The stimulation of this point can change the
body's function by releasing chemicals from the brain.
Photonic
Therapy utilizes broad band 660nm Red Light to provide the
photons required to painlessly and safely stimulate tissue.
McLaren Photonic Therapy
has been successfully used to treat thousands of clinical cases in both
humans and animals, painlessly. Also it is without risk around the
eyes, associated with the use of lasers. Because Photonic Therapy
works so well on animals, it obviously does not rely on a psychosomatic,
hypnotic or placebo effect, but is a valid therapeutic modality.
Photonic Therapy treatment consists of stimulation of skin areas, two or
three times weekly for 5 to 10 seconds per point. Usually only
six to eight
treatments are required for most conditions.
Photonic
Therapy can assist with the following types of problems -

Crystal
Therapy
Crystal
healing is a
technique that employs stones and crystals as healing tools. Crystal
Therapy is used to rebalance the body’s energy system (chakras and
meridians).
Each
variety of crystal has a unique internal structure, which causes it to
resonate at a certain frequency. It is this resonance that is said to
give crystals their specific healing
abilities in enhancing energy centres and interacting with the
electromagnetic field that surrrounds an animal. We use crystals in
conjunction with other holistical healing methods as powerful
tools in helping to unblock the chakras or energy points in the
body thus allowing the subtle energies to flow naturally and restore
wellbeing.
As
with other therapies such as kinesiology, reiki
and photonic therapy there are specific points throughout the
body where different ailments can best be treated. For instance an
animals throat chakra influences: respiratory system, lungs, forelegs,
paws and mouth.
Crystal
Healing can be performed in a variety of ways to suit your pet.
Crystal
are placed on
different parts of the body, often corresponding to the chakras or
around the body in an attempt to construct an energy grid, which
surrounds the animal with healing energy. Different stones are believed
to have different healing vibrations, so a treatment based on the type
of stone may be used instead. Using crystals to benefit the body in this
way goes back thousands of years ~ the Ancient Egyptians, Mayans and
Native American Indians all used crystals for their reputed healing
properties.
Crystals
can also be used as part of
crystal and acupressure massage and within kinesiology treatments. The
crystal is "massaged" through the animal’s aura and /or
along meridian lines and acupuncture points. Crystal Essences can also
be custom made for your pet. Essences can be given directly to your pet
like medicine, or can be mixed in drinking water and food.

What
Are Essential Oils?

Essential oil are the subtle, aromatic and volatile liquids extracted
from the flowers, seeds, leaves, stems, bark and roots of herbs, bushes,
shrubs, and tress, through distillation. According to ancient Egyptian
hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts, priests and physicians were using
essential oils thousands of years before Christ to heal the sick. They
are the oldest form of remedies and cosmetics known to man and were
considered more valuable than gold.
Science
is only now beginning to investigate the incredible healing properties
of essential oils.
Pets
can suffer from ailments in the same way as humans. The quality of oils
used on or with animals is very important.
Use only pure unadulterated "Genuine
& Authentic"
or "Grade
A" oils. Most
people think the words PURE or 100% PURE on the label of an essential
oil mean it's a good oil. That is far from true. Helen works only with
Young Living Essential Oils for this reason. Helen studied with Dr
Melissa Shelton ( DVM) one of the world’s leading veterinary
authorities on essential oils for animal health and wellbeing.
