A l i t t l e a b o u t u s
I have been involved with animals most of my life particularly dogs and horses. I bought my first show Basset Hound in 1982 and hence the beginning of my love affair with showing, breeding, trialing and competing with my dogs. I am a registered breeder and have been a member of Dogs NSW for over 24yrs. Today I have Australian Kelpies and Working Kelpies and compete in a range of performance dog sports, including agility and herding . My husband and I have also been involved in horse harness racing and in the training of horses having had some success at the track! I
originally qualified and worked as an Occupational Therapist in medical
rehabilitation and community health settings for a number of years. I
have tertiary qualifications in Applied Science (B .App Sc) having studied anatomy,
physiology, biology and psychology, and
post graduate qualifications in Health Education, Adult Education and
Nutrition. I have
worked with a range of
organisations in areas of people and organisational health, development
and performance prior to expanding into the area of animal natural
therapies.
I also have a Certificate in Animal Nutrition, from the National College
of Traditional Medicine (Melb); Certificate in Animal Homeopathy, My
kelpies and horses have benefited immensely from my expanding knowledge and
skills and I have had success in dealing not only with a range of musculoskeletal
problems with my own animals but also
with resolving allergies and improving their overall emotional well-being.
In
my work I use a combination of
modalities based on a physical, emotional and mental assessment of the
animal and the presenting issues. My philosophy is to work for the
well-being of the animal and to engage in a team approach with the
owner/handler, your veterinarian, other heath care provider or animal
trainer.
With
all of my services /consultations, you as your animals caretaker, are
encouraged to be an active partner by assisting in the wellness program
and by learning, practicing and keeping records of your animal’s
behaviour, physical responses and progress. I
look forward to assisting you and your animals in your journey for health
and wellness ! Helen
